International Contest To Revitalize The Old Part Of Calpe (Alicante) In Spain

The Local Council of Calpe, a town by the sea, located in Alicante, east coast of Spain, is calling for participants to enter a contest, with the aim revitalizing and modernizing the old part of the town. The tendering process establishes no limits to creativeness and imagination: they are seeking ideas which help enhance the old part of the town, being the only restraint that it has to be feasible within a budget of no more than 800.000€. An urban refurbishing? A cultural event that draws everyone’s eyes to Calpe? An innovative design project for the area? All ideas are more than welcome, solong as they are financially viable and that they serve to improve Calpe’s old part of the town.
The winning project will be awarded the sum of 50.000€, whilst the 5 finalist projects, will get a prize of 3.000 € each. Registering for the tendering process and material collection starts on March 16, ending up by April 30th. From that moment onwards, and up until September, 15, at 14.00, projects can be submitted, according to the conditions you’ll find in the website, below.
Contestants shall formalize in the established term the corresponding inscription using the enclosed form and paying the inscription fees (50€) before receiving the corresponding documentation (Plan of the Old Town according the PGOU of Calp (General Urban Development Plan), Orthophoto and photographic report of the existing constructions and roads.
A month later, on October, 15, a jury made up of experts will determine which 10 projects are the ones which best fits the objectives set, and those will in turn, undergo a popular voting process, which will run from October, 16 to December, 16. Last but not least, on December 23, the name of the winner as well as that of the 5 finalist projects will be made public.
